BIP Heads to Covilhã for the XIV Sopcom Congress
The Congress will take place at the University of Beira Interior and feature three presentations from the BIP.
The BIP – Barometer for Information Quality – will have a triple presence at the XIV Sopcom Congress, held from 9 to 11 February 2026 at the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã.
Each of the BIP’s three working groups – institutional information, journalistic information, and advertising information – submitted a presentation proposal, all of which were accepted for the Congress.
The presentations focus on the methodological work developed by each BIP group, in the search for and validation of criteria to assess different types of information: institutional, journalistic, and advertising. The titles of the presentations are, respectively: “Measuring the Quality of Institutional Information: Validation of an Instrument”; “Assessing the Quality of Journalistic Information: A Methodological Proposal”; and “Does Advertising Make Things Look Whiter? In Search of Criteria for Assessing the Quality of Advertising Information”.
The Barometer for Information Quality is an intervention platform of the Communication and Society Research Centre at the University of Minho.
