Rita Araújo is a research fellow at the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS). She earned her PhD in Communication Sciences in 2017 at the University of Minho. She is co-coordinator of the Barometer for Information Quality. She serves as vice-chair of the Health Communication section of ECREA and is an associate editor of the European Journal of Health Communication. She has served as an assistant professor at Universidade Lusíada – Norte and at the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança. She was a Visiting Scholar at the New York City Food Policy Centre, CUNY School of Public Health – Hunter College, and a researcher on the European project HeaRT – Health Reporting Training Project, funded by the European Commission, as well as on the project A Doença em Notícia, supported by the Foundation for Science and Technology. She is a member of several scientific associations, such as SOPCOM, ECREA and ICA, regularly participating in their conferences. Her research focuses on journalism, health journalism, health communication, information sources and health literacy.
