Sandra Marinho holds a PhD in Communication Sciences (Journalism Studies) from the University of Minho. She has been a lecturer at the same institution since 1997, teaching Research Methodologies, Communication Theories and Journalism. She is a researcher at Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS), where she researches the quality of journalism education and the quality of journalism/information/communication. She co-coordinates the BIP – Barometer for Information Quality, an intervention platform of CECS, and co-directs the journal Comunicação e Sociedade. She has participated in multiple national and international research projects and has held numerous leadership roles, including directing Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Communication Sciences at UMinho. She co-founded and directed the REC | in Training pedagogical project. She served on the Executive Committee of Centro IDEA-UMinho, the body that promotes pedagogical innovation strategies and skills development within the teaching ecosystem at the University of Minho. She is currently the director of the Master’s in Communication Sciences at UMinho and of the journalistic project Flor do Tâmega.
